An Online project can be broken down into 4 essential stages-

4. Monitor/Control

All the above steps are critical to the success of a website development project however most of the time people skip this part. I would like to emphasize here that planning and Research form the base of any project. While ‘research’ will aid you in making an informed decision, planning will help you minimize the risks of your project.

Actually, it is very easy to get carried away by all those catchy phrases that you see on internet- ‘Make a Website in 30 minutes’, ‘Fire your boss’, ‘Earn Six figure from home’, etc however please don’t rush to launch your website. A good understanding of the business objectives, sound business plan, careful researching of the segment/methods, rich content and presentation style and innovative product promotion can alone ensure success for your venture. I will talk about these in greater detail in the next few posts.

I can tell you one thing upfront- the complete process is time consuming and down right boring! At the same time, I can attest by experience that following it would save you a lot of trouble and rework later. Even if you launch your website today without giving any thought to the above considerations, I can assure you that sooner or later you will have to go back to the ‘Drawing board’.
